So it begins...

I can't believe this day is finally here. It's literally been over 30 years since the idea of this story sparked in my noggin. It's been 9 years since I finally started writing this novel, which is the first part of three. To hold this book in my hand for the first time is so cathartic, yet hard to believe that the day has come for this story to be released to the world. Hopefully, the world is interested...!

June 2008 was the moment that I decided to make this happen. I never thought I would write a novel- had no real interest in it, really. I love writing but was relatively happy sticking with screenwriting as opposed to novels-- it was more aligned with my love of movies and filmmaking. The only problem for me was that I always had a difficult time writing this that could be produced on a practical scale; meaning, writing a movie that was cheap enough for me to make was always a challenge for me. I had started writing The Maximilian Emancipation as a screenplay, but got about 35 pages through it before realizing that it was turning into a 6-hour movie! Aside from that, there was no way I was going to be able to afford shooting an epic story like this. So, in the beginning of the summer of 2008 I say "fuck it," and here we are.

The purpose of this blog will be to not only introduce this story but to chronicle the life and the process of continuing this story. In addition to "The Maximilian Emancipation," the next book will be called "World/Time," and the final book will be called "The Last of Yesterday," all part of the series I am calling "The World/Time Diaspora." I'll also be talking about issues related to the things that are discussed in this series, namely race, religion, humanity, and really cool and fun scifi stuff!

I don't think I've ever been this excited and nervous about anything I've created in the past. This is my greatest creative enterprise and a story that I HOPE you all enjoy.

More to come-- watch this space!
