When I was a kid, I used to watch Meet the Press and This Week with David Brinkley with my mother in the kitchen while she made breakfast. I have always had an interest in politics and current events, and I am not shy about my political views. It's unfortunate that we live in a world where people don't have the emotional maturity to discuss and debate the issues. When people fall asleep at the wheel, why are they surprised when they crash into a tree?
It's in the air-- people have been on edge and insane since Trump was elected president last year. A LOT of people are complaining. But are they voting? I'm going to assume that for this election day, voter turnout is STILL going to be low. Frankly, I'm not sure what it will take for people to take an interest in participating in the electoral process. Even if we went the reality show route and people could vote via text, I don't even think THAT would do it! It takes more than flash and sex appeal- it takes interest, intellectual curiosity-- things have have gone missing from our society. At this point, we're at bread and circuses...and that's depressing.
But at least I got to hang out with my little man and show him what it's all about! He even got to put the ballot into the machine! It starts with the little people, folks. If you have any, you owe it to yourselves to introduce them to one of our greatest privilages.
For your listening pleasure, I made a binaural (3D) recording of Ravi and I going to vote. Listen below, and be sure to use headphones!
