Happy Halloween 2017!

It's that time, kids! I think that most of us get a kick out of Halloween. Granted, the older you get the more it loses it's luster- can't be eating all that candy like you used to! But I know plenty of adults that still love to get dressed up and have a good time; me being one of them.

For the last several years, my family and I participate in the Halloween parade in the village of Nyack, NY-- recently voted by Travel Channel as the 4th best Halloween parade in America (check out that link-- you'll see me and my family in our Batman-themed costumes).

My son is Batman, my mom is Robin, my daughter is Batgirl, my wife is Catwoman, I'm Two-Face, and my mother-in-law is The Riddler.

This year is no different-- in 2017 it was decided (by the kids, as always) that the theme would be Super Mario Brothers. I try not to do store-bought costumes-- I only did that ONCE, and that was last year when I went as Freddie the Teddy from "Five Nights At Freddies:"

This year, for once, I wanted to go Comicon-- since it was decided that I would be Bowser, I knew that just a simple BS costume wouldn't do-- I had to actually BUILD the costume!

Here he is. How the HELL do I make this thing?!

It all starts with planning and sketching.

So far, so good...

Ah, paper maché!

Ah, paper maché!

It took a few days, but goddamn it if I didn't get this costume done! Granted, I literally finished it right before we stepped out the door, and it kind of turned out looking like a Time Square fake Elmo-type affair...but it worked!

Overall, this was a good lesson in big-sized costume making. I am definitely confident that I can turn out something MUCH BETTER in the future. The Nyack Halloween parade is always a blast and a great time! It's so much fun to see grown-ass folks going all out and having a great time. Take a look at the Facebook LIVE broadcasts below to witness the splendor and good-times!

Until next year, have a Happy Halloween!!!
